Nali Shayi
Nali Shayi is a Candidate Attorney at Witz Inc. law firm in Rosebank, Johannesburg, where she practices as a member of the firm’s Family Law Department.
Nali studied at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she completed a BA Law (majoring in International Relations and Law) as well as an LLB.
Nali is currently working on her articles in the firm’s Family Law Department under the watchful eye of Director Claire Thomson, who heads up the department.
“Working with Claire is an absolute privilege,” says Nali. “She’s deeply knowledgeable and enormously empathetic toward her clients and colleagues. She’s a wonderful role model. In her spare time, Nali is no less creative and ambitious. An avid hiker and artist, she’s fascinated with neo-noir films and film photography, and has ambitions to develop her own film.
In terms of law, what does the future hold?
“I’m interested in International Law as it relates to families, conflicts, and displacement,” says Nali. “This is not just about forging a career: it’s about becoming an agent of change and helping create a better, more just world for everyone.”
