Mali Thobejane
Mali Thobejane is a valued member of the team at Witz Inc. law firm in Rosebank, Johannesburg, where she works as an office assistant as well as a dedicated assistant as a paralegal in the Estates department under the supervision of to director Claire Thomson.
“The corporate environment at Witz Inc. is very inspiring,” says Mali. “There are many companies that talk about equality and respect for their employees, but here it is a reality. That’s really important, because actions speak more loudly than words, and no matter who you are or what your position is, you feel valued and appreciated. It’s a work environment where the dignity of individuals is respected, and that’s extremely motivating. I don’t do my job because I have to – I do it because I want to. I take pride in being part of a team like this.”
Mali fulfils the role of a paralegal who directly assists Claire Thomson with the administration of deceased estates and client communication in the firm’s Estates Law Department.
“Mali is an indispensable part of our Estates Law Department,” says Claire. “She’s a talented self-starter with an incredible work ethic and capacity for learning. She’s wonderful with our clients and is one of the most committed and dedicated people I know. Her organisational skills are phenomenal, and we’re extremely grateful to her for the value she brings to Witz Inc.”
Mali has been a member of Witz Inc. since 2014 and describes the firm as a growth environment where a culture of learning is encouraged.
“I’ve learned so much in the time that I’ve been here,” she says. “Not just the job skills – which are very important – but also in dealing well with clients and colleagues. These are not just skills and values that make working here a pleasure; they are life skills too.”
Outside of Witz Inc., Mali is a busy mom who applies her formidable energy to her family and social life as well. “When you know that you are regarded as a valuable member of the team, treated with kindness and consideration, it makes your life more fulfilling,” she says. “I truly love what I do.”
